You may have several unique needs that you want us to take care of. You can quickly go through the frequently asked questions below and learn more about all aspects of the aftercare services offered by Valley Pet Aftercare Services.
How long does it take to get my pet back?
Typically, we will be able to reunite you with your pet within two to three business days. If we're performing this work on behalf of your veterinary hospital / clinic, check with them to find out what their schedule is for us. If you need a same-day service, you can arrange this as well by giving us a
call
to check availability.
Can I be present during the cremation process?
Absolutely! If you want to present during the cremation process of your pet, make sure to inform us initially when you contact us. We will make the necessary arrangements for you.
Can I transport my pet to you myself?
Yes. You're welcome to bring your pet to our facility or we can accommodate the transportation from your home or vet’s office, whichever you're more comfortable with.
May I visit your facility before services are performed?
Yes. In fact, we often encourage you to visit us before you are in need of our services. This way we can go over everything beforehand, giving you the information you need to help you with your decision regarding your aftercare needs. It is also far more difficult making these decisions during a time of emotional distress, so doing beforehand can alleviate some of the anxiety associated with that process.
I’m not sure how I feel about cremation, is it what people normally do for their pets?
Cremation is a process that accelerates what is a natural process, only in a much more efficient manner. There are some real advantages to this method of honoring your pet over a more traditional burial.
The one advantage that comes up most often and is perhaps one of the most important reasons many people choose cremation is that regardless of where your life takes you, you’ll always have the peace of mind that your pet is with you. It also gives you more control over the way in which you choose to memorialize your pet.
For instance, you can keep them home with you or you can opt to scatter or bury the cremains in the place of your choosing and only when and if you’re ready to do so. It’s partly these advantages that make this the “norm” for pet owners today.
What is a private cremation?
For us, a private cremation is just that - private! No other pet is within the cremation chamber during the cremation process. Your pet’s body is handled with dignity and compassion. Your pet’s cremains is placed within the urn of your choosing and returned to you.
What is an individual cremation?
For us, an individual cremation is where your pet is gently placed and separated within our cremation chamber. Your pet’s body is handled with dignity and compassion. The integrity of your pet's cremains are maintained throughout every step in the cremation process and returned to you in the urn of your choosing.
What is a communal cremation?
The communal cremation option is a service offered mainly to veterinary hospitals. It is a lower cost alternative to a private cremation. It's when several pets are placed within the cremation chamber for cremation. There is no return of ashes to the owner. These communal cremains are interred in the memorial garden within Willowbrook Pet Cemetery.
How can I be sure that I’m getting my pet’s ashes back after the cremation process?
This is perhaps the most important part of our work. We use detailed logs with very specific information about your pet and the services that you require. We also use carefully placed identification tags with your pet’s information along with your veterinary hospital / clinic's information which remains with your pet throughout the entire process.
Again, this is one of our top priorities! Strict adherence to these guidelines must be met or we will not perform the cremation. There is simply no room for error.
